Good Morning!

I have been a morning person most of my life, but over the past few months, I have slipped out of it a bit. Not in being able to wake up, but in my attitude toward the morning hours. Revamping my outlook on mornings in one of my major focal points for the upcoming days--the minutes and hours of the morning count just as much and can be just as productive as the others of the day. In doing so, I followed these pointers on rising today:

1. Feet on the floor upon my eyes opening (this one is harder than it sounds)
2. Morning AdvoCare products, Spark and MNS. (www.advocare.com/10075190)
3. Upbeat music (today was Chris Tomlin, a Christian fave of mine)
4. 15 minutes of reading, governed by a timer

I want to take a moment to focus on the last one. Reading is one of the casualties of the busy lifestyle, but I want to offer a simple solution that I found that can put some reading back into your routine. If a person were to read 15 minutes a day for one year, he/she would add an extra 5,475 minutes of reading into his/her life--that's over 91 hours. It is a fixed goal for me going into the New Year--I can find 15 minutes a day to feed my mind and soul with good reading. I can't take credit for that idea, of course--I heard it at an AdvoCare training earlier in the month--but I can promise that over time, starting the day with better nutrition, uplifting music, and 15 minutes of reading will start to change your mornings.

Today's challenge: Set a timer and read for 15 uninterrupted minutes. When the timer goes off, put your book down.

  1. Skip,
I appreciate your comments, very inspiring. I think a lot of us are going through the same things you are. I know I am. I have struggled the past few days also, of being sharp and just waking up right. I also have been wanting to read more myself, so yeah just yesterday I put in my schedule to set aside 20 minutes of reading books to add to my Bible reading. You are right in that this will really change your mornings! Thanks again for your blog! I look forward to reading it in the new year to come! We may have failed in several ways in 2012, but we are gonna bounce back stronger than ever in 2013 and give God all the glory!
