Replenish

Awoke to the rain this morning--disappointed at first to have to delay a morning run, but then appreciative of the rain's ability to replenish the earth. Thus, today's blog topic.

As I've been thinking and talking about doing more, I am also aware of the need to rest and replenish more consistently. As an athlete moving through the sport of life, that replenishment comes in a variety of ways through some of the AdvoCare products I take. But the base of that replenishment is water--the crucial life element that most of us do not get enough of. Even though different health organizations recommend different daily intakes of water, most of us would do well to meet the "eight glasses a day" rule that most of us are familiar with. In addition to maintaining a moist environment for your nose and throat, water delivers nutrients throughout your body and helps flush toxins from vital organs.

As a man of my God, my primary source of spiritual replenishment is God's word. As we get worn down by the ups and downs of daily life, it is crucial to let the Word fill us up. The world is waiting with so many other things to fill us up--temptation, negativity, struggle, etc. The Bible is filled with God's promise to fill us up, but this one caught my eye this morning:

"I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint." --Jeremiah 31:25

A simple but profound and uplifting promise. Who among us is not weary and faint from time to time? And for all the other things we turn to for reassurance and fulfillment, nothing fills us as truly and consistently as the promise of God's providence and protection. Being armed with Scripture and having it on our minds throughout the day is a crucial source of replenishment.

Today's challenge: Check your replenishment intake, physically and spiritually, and adjust accordingly.
