Go Heavy, Part II

Been a little hectic the last couple days, thus the blog has lapsed a little. But I am back so schedule this morning.

Had a great fitness day yesterday. Pushed through a run on a cool day with some dead legs--felt very satisfied with that. Had an excellent lifting session to start the day off right. Have another lifting session this afternoon--high volume squat day, which was very challenging the first time last week and will be equally challenging today.

My last entry was about going heavy--lifting heavy things as part of a training routine. Today's entry is also about going heavy, this time with my spiritual life. My focus this upcoming week is to "go heavy" with God: higher volume prayer, higher volume Scripture reading, and a higher volume fast day tomorrow (all day, rather than just sunrise to sunset).

I've written about prayer and Bible reading on here before, and even though I have improved those things, I just feel God calling for more. When I think about praying, the volume of things and people I could pray for is so large that a few minutes a day just isn't enough. And God has packed so much wisdom into his Word that I feel compelled to arm myself with more of it per day than I am now.

I know where the cut would come from: I have fallen back into a little too much television over the past couple weeks. I have professional commitments, as we all do, but I can go heavier with God in my down time. More half-hour and whole-hour blocks of praying, of reading, of just spending quiet time meditating on His will for my life. Jesus gave all for me on the cross--I can give more back. I can go heavier.

Today's challenge: Find an uninterrupted half hour to spend alone with God. Pray, read your Bible, or just sit quietly and let His voice fill up your heart.
