The Messenger

Stepped outside a moment ago, what a pleasant weather day for a January morning. Can't wait to get outside for my run and breathe in a little warm fresh air.

The past couple of days, I've talked to my inner circle about this blog, both why I write it and what it means to me. The why was crystallized for me in this verse I just read this morning:

"We are therefore God's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal directly through us." --2 Corinthians 5:20

Reading that moved me deeply this morning. The idea of God trusting and using someone like me--who has defied him countless times, has drifted away from him on several occasions, etc.--overwhelms and honors me, and strikes me as a awesome responsibility. Each day, I have this as a vehicle to share what God puts on my heart, knowing that some of you reading it might need that day's particular message at exactly the time you read it.

But you don't need a blog or any other kind of public forum to be God's messenger. Our daily words or acts of kindness, love, compassion--these are ways to carry God's message too. In the verse above, Paul writes "we", asking all of us who believe to carry God's torch and pass his message on to others in the way that we interact with them. If we are believers, we don't really have the option to be the face of God's love, peace, and mercy to others; we are compelled to do so.

I am so humbled that some of you are reading this and that God is using it to fill you up. It's a real gift for me that we have this to share. Have a great Friday, everyone.
