A Day's Bounty Before Noon

I love squeezing a full day of joy and productivity into a morning's time. For some reason, Saturday seems like the easiest day to do that. I need to figure out how to do it some of those other days...

Had a great morning of fun and working out with my boy Downsy this morning--if my arms could ever look like his, I'll do whatever he tells me to do. Plus a lot of laughs to go along with it, he brings such a sense of joy and adventure to our workout time. Felt some admiration for what I saw Luke and Greg and Matt put themselves through--those guys got better and more fit today.

Followed it up with a good run. Got 3 miles in and felt very good when I finished. Sky was a little gray, and the sidewalks were a little icy and dicey in spots, but I managed it just fine. God took control of my legs on the last stretch when I wasn't sure about what I had left--thanks be to Him for that.

This blog has expanded in ways that are both humbling and unexpected. Each day, including this morning, I get a piece of feedback from someone that is reading and enjoying it--nothing makes me happier. Just goes to show that God can use the unlikeliest, most sinful people (i.e., me) to further His kingdom and spread His message.

And one more unexpected twist: on the heels of the blog, I started a new book this morning. The "book I am writing" has been a running joke among my friends for a number of years now, and though I do have a novel in the works for some time, this is a separate, totally new project that has essentially grown out of the blog's purpose. I wrote the first chapter today and may work a bit more on it later. Curious to see where God takes it and what He wants me to share.

My two hoops groups are back in action again today--Illini with a huge homie versus Ohio State, and the Blueboys back into conference play with a roadie at Beloit. Looking forward to cheering both of them on to big wins.
